PLASTON won a sustainability award

Big moment for PLASTON

Big moment for PLASTON: The company with about 400 employees around the world has been honored an award for its sustainability. The leading construction supplier has been using red plastic cases from PLASTON for their tools for decades and now they have been awarded the "Supplier Award for Sustainability Excellence" for the first time.

« As a global company, Hilti takes its ecological and social responsibility very seriously and attaches great importance to sustainability », reports Peter Rupp, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Hilti.

Together with Hilti we are now producing the sixth generation of the iconic red case. Alexander Gapp, CEO of PLASTON, describes the sustainability award as «another milestone in the roughly 50-year cooperation between the two companies». From his point of view, joint sustainability projects such as the recycling of material were the decisive factor: « The handles and inserts in Hilti cases, for example, are already made from recycled plastic. We are working on continuously increasing the proportion of recycled material. »

PLASTON's company-wide sustainability strategy which was defined in 2020, has likely spoken in favor of the "Sustainability Award". Alexander Gapp: « We defined our sustainability strategy back in 2020 and, in Mario Semadeni, we brought a proven sustainability expert on board as Global Sustainability Officer. »  Alexander Gapp: «we have worked on more than 100 sustainability projects. This involves larger initiatives such as the installation of a photovoltaic system, but also smaller topics such as the Bike to Work initiative.» By the end of 2022, he predicts, PLASTON will have established CO2 reporting based on the standards of the United Nations Global Reporting Initiative.
