IML (In Mould-Labelling)
The IML system is used to provide individual multicoloured labelling or decoration. This is particularly beneficial on plastic parts whose structure (e.g. ribs) means that standard print procedures such as screen print or hot stamping are inappropriate.
A printed IML foil is automatically inserted into the injection moulding tool, the tool is closed and the plastic melt is injected into the cavity. In this way optimal adhesion of the IML foil to the plastic part is achieved; once the injection cycle is complete, the plastic part is removed from the machine ready-labelled.
