Gas injection technology (GIT)

Gas injection at PLASTON is used as a special injection moulding process which broadens the technical and design options for plastic products enormously. In the GIT process, gas is injected via a nozzle or special jet on the injection moulding machine into the plastic melt of the cavity. Due to the pressure of the gas, the previously-injected melt is repelled as gas channels form, and voids are produced in the plastic part in previously-determined locations.

Advantages of using GIT:

  • Up to 30% savings in materials
  • Up to 50% reduction in cycle times
  • More consistent surface quality
  • No sinking marks due to variations in wall thickness
