FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

On these Page s you will find the answers to frequently asked questions relating to our air treatment systems.

If you have any questions, please write to our FAQ-Coordinator.

The questions:

What care and maintenance does an evaporator require?

Once every two weeks the remaining water has to be tipped out and all interior parts have to be cleaned and rinsed. The evaporator pad may be pressed out (not wrung out) in lukewarm water. Depending on the level of scaling the pad must be replaced once or twice per season.

What are the advantages of an evaporator?

Evaporators automatically provide an optimal level of humidity and have extremely low energy consumption.

What care and maintenace does an ultrasonic humidifier require?

In case of visible limescale deposits the nebuliser must be cleaned with a brush which is included with the unit. The water tank can easily be cleaned of mineral deposits by means of regular household decalcifying agents.

What are the advantages of an ultrasonic humidifier?

Prominent features of ultrasonic humidifiers are visible humidification, silent operation and a very high humidification performance. Additionally ultrasonic humidifiers have a high-tech appeal.

What care and maintenance does a steam humidifier require?

Before refilling the water tank, the remaining water including mineral deposits, that has collected should always be tipped out. Depending on the water hardness the insert must be de-scaled once or twice a month; a regular household de-scaled agent may be used. The deposits can also be scraped off with a tool, e.g. a srewdriver.

What are the advantages of a steam humidifier?

Steam humidifiers are favourably priced. They provide a high humidification performance and require very little maintenance. The vaporisation principle guarantees absolutely germ-, bacteria- and mineral-free humidification (residues remain in the tank).

What care and maintenance does an Air Washer require?

Every two weeks the remaining water should be tipped out and the base reservoir cleaned and rinsed. Additionally, the disc component should be cleaned thoroughly every month. The disc component is dishwasher safe up to 55°C (operating instructions must be followed).

What are the advantages of an Air Washer?

The Air Washer has two main features: it washes and humidifies the air. The advantage over air cleaners and evaporators is that the Air Washer operates without replacement filters. Since the Air Washer removes many particles (e.g. pollen) from the air, it can be used from autumn until the end of the pollen season.

Is the Air Washer self-regulating?

The Air Washer is designed to be self-regulating, making an overdose impossible.

Why does my hygrometer show a different humidity?

It is possible that an external hygrometer can show 60% humidity. This happens because most hygrometers are fitted with sensors which have a 5% margin of error.

What drawbacks does the Air Washer 2055 have?

A vacuum develops as the water flows out. Bubbles develop from this vacuum, thus creating a bubbling noise. This "bird-bath principle" is actually an advantage, as the water level in the reservoir always remains the same, ensuring optimal humidity.

How often should the Air Washer’s humidifier be de-scaled?

In general a light layer of limescale on the humidifier discs is considered beneficial. This layer enlarges the surface area of the discs and considerably improves the humidification performance.
The humidifier should therefore not be de-scaled too often. As the hardness of water is different everywhere, it is not possible to generalise about how often the humidifier should be de-scaled.

Why are the windows damp on the inside?

This is because the surface of the windows is colder than the temperature of the air in the room. During the night, the reservoir falls from a daytime temperature of around 21°C to around 18°C (night-time drop); the air cannot take up or hold the same amount of moisture, and thus steams up the coldest surface. (This is also seen, for example, on bathroom mirrors.)

What does Ionic Silver Stick® do?

The Ionic Silver Stick® (ISS) uses the antibacterial effect of silver to effectively eliminate more than 650 types of viruses and bacteria. The ISS is effective as soon as it comes into contact with water.

What is the metal clip on the Ionic Silver Stick® for?

This metal clip helps to reinforce the appliance without affecting the performance of the Ionic Silver Stick®.

What advantages does the Air Washer 2055 have over other air purifiers?

Due to the water flow system, the Air Washer 2055 always has a high water level in the reservoir and its capacity therefore stays the same. The tank is transparent so that it is possible to see it needs refilling.
In addition, it is fitted with a pre-ionising feature to give it a much greater purifying capacity.
The Air Washer 2055 is equipped with the Ionic Silver Stick® (ISS) so no extra filter is required.
It has a fragrance dispenser for use with essential oils.
